Will ripped off his shirt as Gretchen locked the door. He was unzipping his pants when she turned to face him. Her cheeks were rosy from running across the fields and her eyes sparkled with desire for him. He couldnât stand it and needed her. Now.
He stepped forward, his pants falling to his ankles as he reached Gretchen. He stepped out of them and peeled her shirt away, exposing a perfect shoulder that he hungrily dove his face into. He kissed her in the hollow at her collarbone and she bent her head back, moaning and grabbing for him. He stepped closer so she could wrap her arms around him and obliged as she pulled him to the bed.
He could hardly believe they were the same two people who had fumbled through sex that morning with awkward apologies and more nose bumps than he could count.
No. This time there was something different. An urgency. This time, there was a sense of what would be over. A knowing of what would be lost.
They were both desperate for each other and their hands never stopped moving as they fell into a rhythm that made them lose all sense of time.
All that mattered was right in front of them as they hungrily held onto something they knew wouldnât last.
They rose and fell with each other in a mixture of sweat and tears that seemed like too much too soon and not enough. It would never be enough.
After an earth-shattering climax that Will was certain the American next door had heard, if he hadnât already checked out, they flopped back onto the bed. Will wrapped his arm around Gretchen and she snuggled into its crook like it was made for her.
Neither of them were in as much of a rush to part as they had been that morning. Willâs mind raced with how reckless he was being. It wasnât possible to fall in love with someone so quickly. It had to be lust. His heart sank at that thought. Lust would fade away, and he didnât want what they had to ever end.
âHow long?â
âHm?â Gretchenâs brows furrowed in confusion and she pulled back to look at him better. âHow long? At least average, Iâd say.â She grinned wickedly and Will grabbed a small pillow to chuck at her.
âHow long until you leave?â
âOh.â Her face fell, and he wished he could pluck the words out of the air where they hung heavily above their heads. She glanced at her phone and thought for a moment. âAbout three weeks. Eighteen days, I think? The time difference is messing me up.â
He helped her figure it out, and they both were quiet for a long while after they realized it was only seventeen days until sheâd be boarding a plane for home.
âTell me about your dreams so I donât have to think about whatâs on my mind.â Gretchen propped herself up on an elbow and traced her finger along Willâs chest. He put his hand over hers and sighed.
